LACONIA – Connie Milner, 96, a longtime resident of Laconia, died peacefully on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Mass General Hospital in Boston, Mass. She was born on November 2, 1918 in Woburn, MA., the daughter of Ernest W. and Ina G. (Beattie) Milner. Connie graduated from Woburn High School in 1936. She attended the Warren Academy School of Nursing at Choate Hospital from 1936-1939. She worked as a Registered Nurse at the Choate Hospital from 1940 to 1950. Connie received her BS from Boston University School of Nursing and a MS from the Boston University School of Education. She was on the faculty of the Peter Brent Brigham Hospital School of Nursing for 15 years and the Lasell Junior College School of Nursing for 28 years. She was the chairman of the Lasell Nursing Department for many years. Connie retired in 1985. She then volunteered at the New England Rehabilitation Hospital in Woburn, MA for 11 years. She moved to Laconia in 1999 and has resided there ever since. Connie attended the North Woburn Congregational Church, Tremont Temple, Burlington Congregational Church, Reading and the Moultonborough United Methodist Churches. She is survived by her foster sister, Patricia Chadwick of Chili, NY, a niece, Helen Milner Parker of South Windham, ME., her nephews Thurston Milner of Orlando, FL and Merrill Beattie of Winder, GA, her cousins; Miriam Downs of Andover, NH, Diane West of Nashua, NH and Sally Tarte of Center Harbor, NH and many extended family, students, friends and her cat, Cricket. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at 1PM on Friday, January 9, 2015 at the Forest Glen Cemetery in Reading, Mass. A memorial service will be celebrated at 11AM on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the Moultonborough United Methodist Church, 1018 Whittier Highway Moultonborough, NH. BELMONT – Donald Glen Sanborn Jr, 64, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015 in his home surrounded by his loving family and friends after a long illness. He was born in Claremont, NH on May 1, 1950, the son of Donald G. Sr. and Betty (Madeya) Sanborn. He grew up in the Laconia area where he met his wife, Frances. Don was a commercial truck driver, driving 18 wheelers most of his life. Throughout his career he worked for a number of places, such as driving sweepers for Rules Sweeping for a number of years and also driving for Willie Nelson Construction. With a deep love for trucking, he was always found behind the wheel of a big rig. Donald was a man who had a love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Frances (Shaw) Sanborn of Belmont, his daughters; Tammy Sanborn of Laconia, Bilinda Mooney Davis of Campton, his sons; Donald G. Sanborn III of Belmont and Cornelius Sanborn of Belmont, his grandchildren; Joseph Sanborn of Laconia, Travis Sanborn of Laconia, Devan Sanborn of Laconia, Kenneth Sanborn of Bristol and Chloe Sanborn of Bristol, his great grandchildren; Sophie Benwell of Belmont and Karter Sanborn of Laconia, three brothers; Steven Sanborn of Missouri, John Sanborn of Enfield and Bruce Sanborn of Florida, three sisters; Betty ‘Sue” Sanborn of Florida, Lisa Sanborn Bledsoe of Florida and Linda Knowlin of Florida. He was predeceased by his father, Donald G. Sanborn Sr., his mother Betty Sanborn Dow and his step father, Peter Dow. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be announced at a later date at the Center Harbor Christian Church. TILTON – Rose Marie Patten, 64, of 480 Laconia Road, passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Lakes Region General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on January 26, 1950 in Franklin, the daughter of Harold and Gertrude (LaClair) Hollins. Rose Marie worked for several years as a Assembly Worker for Beede Electric. She enjoyed motorcycle riding and loved bingo. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was known as a wonderful woman, a loving wife, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, James Patten of Tilton, her son, Benjamin Miller and his wife Diana of North Carolina, her daughter, Tammy Holso and her husband Bruce of Webster, three step daughters; Jamie Magoon of Franklin, Carrie Chase and her husband Joseph of Tilton and Khristine Patten of Tilton, one brother, Robert Hollins of Lakeport, three sisters; Carol Nedeau of Gilford, Brenda Patten of Tilton and Linda Rollins and her husband Robert of Northfield, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one brother, Harold Hollins and one sister, Mary Sulloway. There will be no calling hours. Laconia—-Joan Beatrice Shaw, 94, of Sandhurst Drive, a lifelong resident of Laconia, passed away January 1, 2015. She was born April 7, 1920, daughter of the late Valere F. and Kilda (Fillion) Drouin. She worked for the Laconia State School for 26 years first being a nurses aid and then a secretary as she became older. Joan also was a volunteered for the American Red Cross for the Laconia Blood Drive as well as the New Hampshire VNA & Hospice in Laconia, helping in the office for many years. Joan enjoyed reading, collecting small figurines and above all spending time with family. Being a lifelong resident of Laconia, she enjoyed tracing the routes of her families travels on maps and reminiscing and visiting with family and friends about Laconia and its history. She is survived by two daughters, Claudette Kellow of Laconia and Carol Jones and her husband, Jack also of Laconia, a brother, Larry Drouin and his wife, Joan of Belmont, a son-in-law, John Gendron, a sister, Edith Wilbraham of Ohio, nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her husband, Herman Eugene Shaw, a daughter, Brenda Gendron, a son-in-law, Leonard Kellow, Dora McEslin, Morris Drouin, Leo Drouin, Alice Laurence, John Drouin, Rita Flack and Patrica Hollingshead. Mary Harvey Southworth, 97, of Gilford and formerly of Tilton, passed away January 1, 2015, at Lakes Region General Hospital. She was born at home, on March 18, 1917 in Lakeport, to Vernon C. and Della B. Harvey. The family soon moved to a farm in Sanbornton and then to New Hampton, where she grew up attending a one-room school until going to high school in Bristol. Mary had many fond memories of her early years, including a trip with her mother through the Sanbornton woods at night in a one-horse sleigh. The sleigh tipped over dumping Mary into a snow bank. She was proud of her mother for holding tight to the reins, stopping the horse, righting the sleigh and continuing on their way. Mary attended Concord Business College and later in life graduated from Plymouth State College. She worked as a correspondent for the Journal Transcript for several years. She later worked as an accountant for the State of New Hampshire until her retirement. Mary was married to Walter (Arn) Southworth for more than fifty years before he passed away in 1992. They resided in Tilton for most of their marriage. She is survived by their children, William A. Southworth and Verna S. Beaupre, William’s daughters, Denise Kersey and husband Mike, Maureen Casey and husband Brian, and Verna’s son, Parker Beaupre and wife Megan, her great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and her canine buddy, Piper. She also leaves her friend of more than ninety years, Barbara Chase, formerly of New Hampton. She was predeceased by her siblings, Vera Hebert, Warren (Hank) Harvey and Ruth Clapper. Mary was interested in many things, including politics and all things related to nature, especially the wild birds. Her favorite pastimes included reading, growing flowers, and having a good-natured argument. Mary was kind and gentle with a quick wit and a loving heart. She loved her family and friends dearly. Her husband described her as being the fairest person he had ever met. A memorial service will be held in the spring. Laconia, N.H.—–Ella Linnea Trulson, 95, passed away on January 8, 2015 surrounded by loved ones at Genesis Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Laconia, New Hampshire. She was born on August 12, 1919 in Worcester, Massachusetts to Nils Swanson and Anna (Holmberg) Swanson. In 1945, Ella married Alden Trulson and settled in Arlington, Massachusetts where they raised their two daughters. Ella was a member of the First Baptist Church of Arlington and was known as a devoted wife and mother, a caring neighbor and dear friend to many. The latter part of her life was spent near family in Laconia, where she was involved in several organizations. Ella was a former president and member of the Laconia Elders Friendship Club, member of the Belmont Senior Center and active in the Mallard Cove community. Ella adored a good time and was commonly known as “the life of the party” wherever she went. Ella is survived by her two daughters, Linda Stevens of Rochester, NH and Janyce Forsberg and her husband Donald of Laconia, NH. She was also blessed with five grandchildren: Craig Stevens and Jodi Collins of Rochester, NH; Glenn Stevens and his wife Laura of Franklin, MA; Becky Herrmann and her husband Marc of Loudon, NH; Christian Forsberg and his wife Kelly of Loudon, NH and Erika Sheppard and her husband Paul of Henniker, NH. The greatest loves of her life and her biggest fans were her nine great-grandchildren: Anna, Todd, Julia, Katelyn, Ella, Jack, Matthew, Thomas and Ryan. They vow to continue her legacy of laughter, love, family, good times and to always root for the Red Sox. Gilford—-Patricia Gwyn Hamel Feeney 67, of Breton Road, a lifelong resident of the Lakes Region, passed away January 11, 2015 at her home. She was born June 8, 1947 in Laconia, daughter of the late Gwendolyn (MacLennan) and Lawrence E. Hamel. She attended Laconia High School and worked for J.Jill for many years. Patricia was also a hairdresser and attended Andover Truck & Trailer School and was a truck driver for several years. She was also an active member of the Lakeport United Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, as well as her beloved dog Prin-rue. She is survived by her husband, Joseph M. Feeney Jr. of Franklin, a brother Guy L. Hamel II and his wife, Kathleen of Augusta, Maine, a sister, Kathy Hamel of Meredith, two nieces; Beth Osborne of Augusta , Maine and Jennifer Oldenburg of Thornton, three nephews; Jason Dunn of Northfield, Guy Hamel of Florida and Lee Hamel of Maine. Meredith—Louise A. Jeffrey, 85, of Meredith, NH died on December 26, 2014. Louise was born in Arlington, MA the daughter of Frank and Clara Pothier and was one of five girls. She worked for the Boston Herald Traveler and later as the assistant town accountant in Lincoln, MA. Louise was predeceased by her beloved husband of 58 years Joseph Jeffrey. Louise lived in Lexington and Lincoln MA for many years before retiring to their home on Lake Winnisquam in Sanbornton NH. Louise loved bowling, cross-stitching and playing the piano. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed both the Boston Red Sox and the Boston Bruins. Louise spent much of her time in NH climbing mountains with her husband and children. She was a member of the elite four thousand footer club. Louise is survived by her two children, Paul Jeffrey of Ellsworth, NH and Linda Mackay of Meredith, NH; her granddaughter Jessica Jeffrey of Boston, MA and her two sisters Marion Cronin of Melbourne Beach, FL and Janet Riley of Brookline, MA. LACONIA – Irene D. Therrien, 93, a resident of the Belknap County Nursing Home, died Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Franklin Regional Hospital following a period of failing health. Irene was born December 1, 1921 in Berlin NH, the daughter of Eugene and Nathalie (Garon) Dube. She was raised in Jay (Chisholm) Maine. At the age of 16, she went in to be a nun, but due to illness could not stay. Irene lived in Holyoke Massachusetts for many years, where she worked at many places. For several years her and her husband owned a variety store, which people would come from all over to buy her Italian sandwiches. She made the best grinders ever. When they owned the variety store, they would help a lot of people. When people were laid off from work and going thru rough times, they would donate lots of food, including candy for the children. They were very generous and caring people of the community. They moved back to Livermore Falls Maine, where Irene retired from Foster Mfg. in Wilton Maine. She was a long time member of the Daughters of Isabella in Jay, Maine. When Irene’s husband died, she moved with her daughter in Laconia, NH. She made several new friends, and loved going to the Community center and Friendship club. She was a communicant of the Sacred Heart Church. She was predeceased by her husband of 36 years, Edward (Freeze) Therrien, died November 7, 1986, three step children, Yolanda (Therrien) Morasse of Northfield NH, died May 9, 2013, and Lorraine (Lorrie) Hoskinson of Riverside CA. died June 15, 2013, and Robert Therrien of Palmer, MA, died February 20, 2007, and one step granddaughter Kathy Moses February, 2009, her brother, Bob Dube of Chicopee, MA., and her sister Aline (Dube) Dionne of Saco, Maine. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Charlene and Gene Moses, of Laconia, NH, one step daughter Julie and George Bishop of Alfred, Maine, three step sons, Roland and Therese Therrien of Jay, Maine, Joseph (Buckshot) Therrien of Jay, Maine, and Wilfred Therrien of Milbridge, Maine. Also five step grandchildren, Joyce & Nick Cameron of Gilford, Betty and John Stefanik of Hooksett, Gene Jr and Lorna of Sunapee, Donna Moses of Hill and Danny Moses of White River Jct Vt. and several step great grandchildren, two sisters, Doris Arsenault and Patricia (Pat) Szafranowicz, both of Holyoke, MA., three brothers, Normand Dube of Jay, Maine, Oscar Dube of Manchester, NH, and Maurice Dube of San Angelo, TX. A God Child, Anita Roberts of Lincoln, RI., and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved friends Herman & Sharon Martin of Laconia, Gloria Ladore of Laconia, and Irene Thibeault of New York. The family of Irene which to give many thanks for the great care she had at Belknap County Nursing Home. The staff is such caring people. They showed such compassion, gave her the personal care she needed like she was family. They laughed and joked with her, gave her whatever she wanted for food, she would always ask for strawberry short cake, and every once in while a staff from the kitchen would bring her one. They have become part of my family, and for that I will be eternally grateful. I am grateful for the visit at the hospital from Shelly and Annette, which put a smile on her face. My mom really truly loved each and every one of you. May God bless you all. FRANCONIA – Ronald L. Bilodeau, 75, of 93 Main Street, died Sunday, January 18, 2015 at the Lafayette Center in Franconia. He was born on May 2, 1939 in Berlin, the son of the late George and Veronica (Derochers) Bilodeau. Ronald served in the US Navy. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing, woodworking and reading. He is survived by his son, Jeff Bilodeau and his wife Elizabeth of Meredith, one daughter, Jacklyn Perez and her husband Ray of Bethlehem, one step-daughter, Holly Tetreault and her husband Norman of Meredith, one brother, James Bilodeau and his wife Linda of Gorham and two sisters; Margaret Ellis of Deleware and Lois George of Gorham, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Donna (Pickering) Bilodeau, three brothers; George Bilodeau, Louis Bilodeau and Ernest Bilodeau and four sisters; Irene Westman, Shirley Sanborn, Joanne Peters and Daisy Bilodeau. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Oakland Cemetery in Meredith. Belmont—- Michael “Mike” E. Williams, 55, passed away suddenly, Sunday, January 18, 2015, at his home in Belmont. He was born April 20, 1959 son of Melvin Eugene and Rita (Horton) Williams. Mike is a long time resident of Belmont and had been working as a professional painter for Bentley Quality painting for over 20 years. Marstons Mills, Mass.—–The sun has set on the life of Jane Goode-Bouche of Marstons Mills, who passed quietly on Tuesday, January 20, 2015. Her sunrise was June 26, 1921 when she was born into the Rossley family. Wife of the late Robert Bouche and Dick Goode, she is survived by Heather Goode of Hamburg, NY, Rick Goode of Boston, Paul and Nan Bouche of Falmouth, Anne Merna of Norwell, Thom and Debby Bouche of Marstons Mills and Liz Bouche of Pembroke as well as many adored step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her nieces Carolyn Weiss, Nancy Marc-Aurele, Susan Rossley and Sharon Lane and all their families . She was an active member of numerous civic organizations both on the cape and in Sudbury, MA. A natural flair for designing and decorating, her home reflected her love of beauty and comfort. She moved to the cape for the beauty and quiet and found a welcome home here and could be found often at Dowses Beach. A memorial service will be held at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Osterville, MA on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 1:30pm. Internment will be in Moultonboro, NH. She was born on July 11, 1935 in Laconia, the daughter of the late Oliver and Virginia (Jacques) Maheux. Jean was a Laconia High School Graduate and worked for a number of years as a secretary for Paquette Paving. She also worked as a secretary for Gill Clark, CPA. She is survived by her two sons; Jonathan Vachon and Jeffrey Vachon, both of Moultonborough, his two children , Whitney and Sydney Vachon, both of Laconia; two stepsons; Gary Ames and his son, Adam, both of Moultonborough, William H. Ames Jr. and his wife Christine and their three daughters, Kerri Porusta, and her three children, Alyssa Robinson and her three children and Karyn Ames and her two children all of Moultonborough; a brother, Michael Maheux and his wife Bonnie of Gilford; one nephew and one niece. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, William H. Ames Sr. in 2009 and by a stepson Michael Ames and a brother Francis Maheux. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Laconia at a later date.
