Belmont—–Peter Ralph Kurz, age 58, of Lakeside Dr., Belmont, NH, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2015, at the VA Medical Center in Brockton, MA. He was born on April 18, 1957, in New York, the son of the late Robert A. and Lucie M. (Scherf) Kurz. Peter served his country in the United States Marine Co rps. for thirteen years. He was an outdoors man who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Peter had been a citizen of the Lakes Region for over twenty years. Peter is survived by three brothers, Robert A. Kurz and his wife Lisa of Bartlett, Charles Kurz and his wife Karen of Gilmanton, and Perry Kurz and his wife Debi of Wentworth. He is also survived by a sister, Laura, and her husband Tom White of Sherman, Illinois, and many nieces and nephews. Laconia—–Shelley M. Ellington of Laconia, NH passed away peacefully in her home with her two daughters by her side on November 7th 2015. Shelley was born on February 9th, 1949 to Lois W. and Howard McGuire in Hutchinson, KS. On December 28, 1969 she married her best friend and love William B. Ellington (deceased March 28th, 2003) in Wichita, KS. Together, they moved to Boston, MA and later to Concord, NH where they raised their two daughters, Angela L. Bailey and Christina F. Ellington who now survive them. They are also survived by their son in law Mark L. Bailey and their four grand children, Katelyn , Mitchell , Abigail, and Joseph Bailey. Shelley worked as an executive assistant in Boston for many years before becoming a real estate agent with Century 21 in Bristol, NH. She will be remembered for her joyous smile and laugh, her love of people and family, her hard work ethic and her never-give-up attitude. The family will be spreading both Shelley and Williams ashes later this month as a tribute to their long lasting love of each other. LACONIA – Susan G. Lewis, 57, of 106 Water Street, died unexpectedly on Friday, November 6, 2015 in her home. She was born on September 24, 1958 in Lowell, MA, the daughter of the late Francis and Gertrude (Vallincourt) Sweeney. She was a graduate of Dracut High School in Mass. Susan moved to the Lakes region 13 years ago to be close to her brothers Frank and Tim Sweeney. She worked for 28 years for EFI Vutek as an electrical technician. Susan had also worked for Scotts for 16 years as a prototype engineer. She loved her home on the river where she enjoyed fishing and boating. Susan was an avid Patriots fan, loved racing and Easters at the ocean. The love of her life was her husband Barney and her dog, Charlie. Her family and her friends at work were very important to Susan. She is survived by her husband, Edwin “Barney” Lewis of Laconia, two brothers; Frank and Timothy Sweeney, one sister, Cynthia (Sweeney) Marvin, three nieces, seven nephews, nine great nieces, eight great nephews and one great great nephew. Laconia—–Barbara Ann Bolduc, 89, of Bois Circle and formerly a longtime resident of Gilford, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at the Taylor Community, Laconia NH. Barbara was born in Laconia on January 11, 1926 the daughter of Lyman E. and Dorothy (Sleeper) Goss. She was a 1943 graduate of Laconia High School. Barbara was an assistant office manager of Metropolitan Life Insurance for thirty two years. She had also worked for JJ Morin Co. and Laconia Hospital. Barbara enjoyed camping, fishing and crafts. Survivors include four brothers-in-law, Maurice Bolduc of New Port Richey, Florida, Ernest Bolduc and his wife, Ellie of Laconia, Armand Bolduc of Lakeport and Robert Bolduc and his wife Marilyn of Winnisquam; three sisters-in-law, Anita McKeown and her husband, Norman of Belmont, Laurette Seabeck and her husband, Ray of Beaverton, Oregon and Helen Gaudet and her husband, Paul of Belmont and several nephews, nieces and cousins as well as her beloved friend of many years, Gaida Lubis of Gilford, NH. Laconia—–John O. Richards, 87, of Bois Circle passed away on Monday, December 14, 2015 at The Taylor Community. John was born in Portsmouth on April 14, 1928 the son of Maurice O. and Helen (Durgin) Richards. John graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1946 and left for duty with the U.S. Navy the day after graduation. He served in the Navy as Hospitalman. Upon his discharge from the Navy he attended Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, graduating in 1955. In July he moved to Laconia to work for Charles Dockham at Story Drugstore. Upon Mr. Dockhams retirement John and his wife took over the store and ran it until June 31, 1992. He was most proud of his award of the Bowl of Hygeia in 1976, an award made annually to one pharmacist per state, the award for outstanding community service as well as service in his profession. John was involved in many community organizations throughout his life; he served as a Lt. in the Gilford Fire Dept. for twelve years, on the planning board and as a school board member for nine years. He was an active member of the Congregational Church of Laconia since 1946, serving as Trustee and Deacon where he and his wife were honored to receive the church service award in 2001. John was a charter member of the Laconia Rotary Club, serving as President 1970-1971, he served on the Board of Directors of the First NH Laconia Bank and was one of the original members of the Laconia Downtown Association. He also served on the Salvation Army advisory board for thirty years. Survivors include his beloved wife of over sixty seven years, Donalda F. (Ricker) Richards, of Laconia; two sons, John Richards Jr. of Florida and Thomas Richards and his wife, Mary, of Vermont; two grandchildren, Megan and Benjamin Richards and several nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Charles Richards and by two sisters, Mary Shattuck and Elizabeth Caldwell. There will be no calling hours. FRANKLIN – Richard “Dick” Frost, 91, of 24 Gillette Street, died Friday, December 18, 2015 at The Golden Crest Senior Resort in Franklin surrounded by his family. He was born on December 2, 1924 in Easthampton, MA, the son of the late Alice (Lahaie) Frost. He had lived in Laconia since 1955. Dick attended schools in Massachusetts, graduating early due to his enlistment in the US Navy, serving in World War II. Dick was a communicant of St. Andre Bessette Parish – Sacred Heart Church in Laconia. He worked as a salesperson for Salta Tire, retiring after several years there. After retiring, he worked part time driving the courtesy van for Cantin Chevrolet. Dick volunteered hundreds of hours at St. Vincent de Paul as well as driving cancer patients to treatments at the Norris Cotton Cancer Center in Concord. He was a lifetime member of the Laconia Elks #876. He is survived by one son, Timothy A. Frost and his fiancé Janie of Auburn, NH, three daughters; Helene L. Frost of CT., Marsha Holliston and her husband Bob of WA. and Denise M. He then worked as a certified financial planner with Shearson Lehaman Brothers, A.G. Edwards, Wells Fargo Advisors and Wedbush Securities from 1985 to the present. Richard was a member of the Laconia Kiwanis Club, the Southern Carroll City Kiwanis Club and was on the N.E. Kiwanis Foundation Board serving as Lieutenant Governor. Richard also served on the Laconia City Council Ward 5 from 1971-1974 and Ward 3 in 2005. He was the Laconia Water Works commissioner for twenty years. Richard is survived by his wife of 58 years, Priscilla T. Breton (Boucher) and son Richard L. Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Mont 12/12/2015 Laconia, NH
Laconia—– Elizabeth Ann (Lord) Mont, 88, formally of Franklin St., Lakeport, NH, passed away at the Belknap County Nursing Home on December 12, 2015 after a period of failing health. Elizabeth was born on July 26, 1927 in Laconia, NH, the daughter of the late Charles E. Lord and Flora (Page) Lord. Elizabeth attended school in Laconia until her father, Major Lord, was assigned to Galveston and then El Paso Texas with the New Hampshire National Guard, Battery “C”, during WWII. She graduated from Austin High School, El Paso in 1944. When the family returned to Laconia, she met and fell in love with WWII hero John E. Mont. They married June 1, 1947 and had a wonderful 67 year marriage until his death this past February. Betty was a member of the Laconia Congregational Church for 72 years, joining in April of 1943. She worked at the Laconia National Bank, O’Shea’s Department Store, Lakeport National Bank, Belknap Tire and Laconia Savings Bank. However, the “job” she loved the most was being a homemaker, a mother and a grammie. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grammie, daughter, sister and aunt. She and grampie helped their daughter Joan raise her children, Jake and Jessie. They spent lots of time with them making wonderful life long memories. Betty loved to bake and sew. Everyone looked forward to her homemade bread and chocolate chip cookies. She made beautiful quilts for her family and Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls for many children. Her favorite places were her home on Lake Opechee, the Nubble Lighthouse and Moody Beach in Maine. She was so happy to sit on Moody Beach with her toes in the sand and the sun on her face watching the waves crash on the beach. Betty is survived by her two daughters, Linda Ann Shaw and Joan Marjorie Shaw and her husband Douglas of Laconia; Nine grandchildren, Suzanne, Kevin, Matthew, Nicholas, Jacob, Stephanie, Jessica, Sierra and Cheyenne; Eight great-grandchildren, Tianna, Connor, Derek, Miles, Ruby, Jackson, Kaiden and Jaiden. Betty is also survived by a sister Marjorie Morin, four nieces, Peggy, Pammy, Paula and Prudy and a nephew Gerry. In addition to her parents and her husband, Betty was predeceased by a beloved niece Patty and two nephews, Ryan and Jason. Laconia—–Donald “Don” Francis Beane, 88, of 28 Clairmont Street, died at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday evening, December 24, 2015. He was the widower of Eva (Frohock) Beane who died in 2008. Don was born May 17, 1927 in Laconia the son of Dana “Ace” S. Beane Sr. and Anna May (Durant) Beane. Don was a lifelong resident of Laconia and graduated from Laconia High School in 1945 where he lettered in football, basketball, baseball and track, and, in his later years, enjoyed playing tennis because he was a “lefty”. Don served in the U.S. Naval Air Corps during World War II leaving LHS in February of his senior year. Returning to Laconia at the end of the war he attended Tilton Prep and graduated from The New England Institute of Anatomy, Sanitary Science, Embalming and Funeral Directing of Boston in 1948. After graduating from NEI he returned to Laconia and joined his father “Ace” and his brother Roger at the Wilkinson Funeral Home in downtown Laconia. In 1966 the firm became Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home and Don served as treasurer of the firm for the following forty years. Don was a seventy two year member of the Laconia Congregational Church, at the time of his death he was the most senior member of the Church. He also served as a church trustee for many years. He was a charter member of the American Red Cross and was a past President and former Secretary and a sixty seven year member of the Laconia Rotary Club and was honored by the Paul Harris Fellow. He was also an over sixty five year member of the Mt. Lebanon Lodge No. 32 F&AM and also a seventy year member of the Wilkins-Smith Post No. 1 American Legion. Don was a trustee of the Laconia Savings Bank for twenty five years; he was also very active with the NH Humane Society, Lakes Region United Way and was a former park commissioner. He was a very active member in the Lakes Region YMCA and he was awarded the Lakes Region YMCA “Man of the Year” award. He was a member of the New Hampshire and National Funeral Directors Association and the National Selected Morticians. Above all Don loved his family and enjoyed watching his family play sports, playing the piano and most of all watching them enjoy the camp on Long Island in Moultonboro for the past sixty years. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Dana F and Fereshteh Beane of Germantown Maryland , Russell J. and Carol Ann Beane of Laconia and Gary D. and Adriana Beane of Scarsdale, New York; eight grandchildren, Craig, Chad, Curtis, Dyan, Brent, Adriano, Stefano and Isabella; eight great grandchildren, Cody, Lucas, Kathryn, Robbie , Cory, Rissy, Addison and Delaney Eva and six nephews and one niece. In addition to his parents and his stepmother, Marie (Gingras) Beane, Don was predeceased by his brothers Roger H. Beane and Dana S. Gilmanton Iron Works——Raymond E. Pratte, 82 passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2015 after a long illness. Raymond was born in Manchester, N.H. and retired from the Manchester Highway Department. Raymond was a veteran of the Korean War. Raymond is survived by his wife Wilma (Hannemann) Pratte of 57 years, a son, David Pratte and his wife Kimberly of Bedford; three daughters, Linda Coulter and her husband, Jerry Coulter Jr., of Auburn, Diane Eaton of Gilmanton and Joann Cheney and her husband, David, of Gilmanton Iron Works; five grandchildren, one great-grandson, two sisters, Rita Stempska of Hampton, Cecile Talbot and her husband, Emile of Manchester; and a brother Roger Pratte and his wife Estelle of Florida. NEW HAMPTON – Matthew John Jamison, 58, of 373 Hatch Corner Road, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 23, 2015. Matt was a gift to everyone who knew him. As a follower of Jesus Christ, his greatest loves were the Lord and his family. To know Matt was to feel the extension of God’s love. He was born to George and Jacqueline (Waugh) Jamison on October 9, 1957 in Rumford, Maine but lived in Rangeley for most of his life. Matt was passionate about the outdoors, and you could find him hunting, boating or fishing. He loved his 36-year career as a logger, which brought him and his family to New Hampshire in 2001 where he founded Jamison Logging. Matt was a sportsman; he loved the game of baseball and was also a dedicated Patriots fan. Matt had a servant’s heart, enjoyed the fellowship of his community, and attended First Baptist Church of Meredith. Regardless of where he was or what he was doing, Matt brought his warmth and infectious smile. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Holly (Spanks) Jamison of New Hampton; three sons, Joshua Jamison and his wife Jessica of Corning, NY, Jesse Jamison and his wife Sierra of Greenville, NH and Howie Hutchinson and his wife Briana of Denver, CO; two daughters, Brittany Hutchinson of Denver, CO and Zoe Jamison of New Hampton; his father and step-mother, George and Phyllis Jamison of Canton, ME; seven grandchildren; one brother, Stephen Jamison of Round Rock, TX; two sisters, Terrene Smith of Rangeley, ME and Laura Gagne of Cumberland, ME; nieces, nephews and his dog, Burt. Laconia—–Irene Theresa Lowell, 88, of Court Street, passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at St. Francis Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Laconia after an extended period of declining health. Irene was born in Laconia on June 21, 1927 the daughter of Henry and Rose (Dion) Poire. Irene was a lifelong resident of Laconia and a graduate of Sacred Heart French School and Laconia High School. Irene retired as bank vault teller for Laconia Peoples Bank and it was through this job she got to know many people in her beloved town of Laconia. Prior to her stay at St Francis Home, Irene lived at Woodside in the Taylor Community where she participated in many of their activities. Irene’s love of music was always evident as a member of the Taylor Community Chorus. She always looked forward to the Holiday Season when then the Chorus would travel to the various Senior Homes and sing Christmas Carols. Irene was also a member of the cribbage club, and Wi-Bowling League. In her spare time she loved to knit and crochet. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren all have many sweaters, blankets, booties and mittens. She also devoted time to make knitted caps for children with cancer. Irene loved to play cards and socialize with her many friends. She always looked forward to the “Girls Night Out” on Wednesday night at the Woodside resident dinner. Irene is survived by her two sons James Lowell and wife Karen of Gilford and Alan Lowell and fiancé Alison Thibodeau of Quakertown, Pa; her four grandchildren, Kara Chase and her husband Aaron, Kristin Kittridge and her husband Daren, Seth Lowell, and Christopher Lowell; her four great grandchildren, Kendall Chase, Bode Chase, Finnegan Kittridge and Ellington Kittridge; her brother Roland Poire. In addition to her parents Irene was predeceased by her husband Raymond Lowell, brothers, Albert Poire, Arthur Poire, and by a sister, Alice Haynes. LACONIA – Henry Albert “Sonny” Levasseur, 74, of 7 Morningside Drive, died unexpectedly Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Lakes Region General Hospital. He was born on July 18, 1941 in Laconia, the son of the late Henry F. and Florence (Robichaud) Levasseur. Henry served in the US Air Force and worked for many years as a General Contractor, carrying on the family business of Clem Levasseur Company from his father. He was a member of the Laconia Elks #876 and also a member of the Laconia Country Club and the Pheasant Ridge Country Club. Henry was a lifelong resident of Laconia and was a huge Boston sports fan. Those who knew Sonny could find him every morning at the Water Street Café as well as Boulia-Gorrell. He loved fishing, golf and was known as a kind, generous and caring man and a devoted husband and beloved father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Loretta (Seminatore) Levasseur of Laconia, one son, Christopher A. Levasseur and his significant other, Alicia A. Getz of Londonderry, one daughter, Michelle A. Natale and her husband Anthony F. Leonard Jr. of Franklin, MA, two grandchildren; Cameron A. Getz-Levasseur of Londonderry and Dominic A. Natale of Franklin, MA, several nieces, nephews, one brother-in-law, Marcel Gill of Derry and three sisters-in-law, Joan Chandler of Laconia and Barbara and Marie Seminatore, both of Burlington, MA.
