Gilford—–Douglas M. Moulton, 49, of 36 Labonte Farm Road, died at home on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 from a massive heart attack. Douglas was born October 2, 1963 in Laconia, the son of Ronald and Beverly (Francoeur) Moulton. Douglas was a lifelong resident of Gilford. He graduated from Gilford High School and also graduated from the University of New Hampshire, Durham, N.H. with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Sciences. He had been employed at Home Depot in Tilton for eight years. He was a kind and wonderful son and brother. He will be deeply missed. Douglas loved golf, reading and computers. Survivors include his parents of Gilford; two brothers, Stephen Moulton of Gilford and Dennis Moulton and his wife Dr. Maureen Gallagher of Portsmouth and his beloved cats. A calling hour will be held on Friday, February 1, 2013 from 11:00AM-Noon in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N.H. Sanbornton—–Catherine M. Drake, 91, of 262 Hunkins Pond Road, died peacefully at the Belknap County Nursing Home on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 with her family by her side. Mrs. Drake was born October 18, 1921 in Northfield, N.H., the daughter of John and Margaret (Looney) O’Connor. Mrs. Drake lived in Sanbornton for most of her life and was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Survivors include two sons, Allen Drake and Edward Drake and his wife, Carrie, all of Sanbornton; a daughter, Patricia Merriam, of Sanbornton; seven grandchildren; many great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Drake was predeceased by her husband, Lester Drake, who died in 1986, by a son, Paul Drake, who died January 29, 2012, by an infant son, Dennis, and by two brothers and two sisters. Meredith, N.H.—–Edward Gibbs, III, 97, of 21 Upper Mile Point Drive and formerly of the Taylor Community, Laconia, N.H. died at the Golden View Health Care Center, Meredith, N.H. on Thursday, January 31, 2013. Mr. Gibbs was born July 19, 1915 in Saugus, Mass., the son of Blanche ( Petts) and Edward Gibbs, Jr. He resided at the Taylor Community in Laconia for ten years before moving to the Meredith Bay Colony Club, Meredith in 2011. Mr. Gibbs received his A. B. from Harvard University in 1937 and his Ed.M. from Harvard University Graduate School of Education in 1949. In 1938, Mr. Gibbs was a social studies teacher at Saugus (Mass.) High School and was the Director of Guidance in 1941. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII, entering as a private on the first anniversary of Pearl Harbor. He served in North Africa and Italy where he was directly commissioned a second lieutenant. Mr. Gibbs was awarded the bronze star and mustered out of the service as a first lieutenant in 1946. Mr. Gibbs returned to his guidance position at Saugus High School. In 1951, he became principal of the Tilton-Northfield High School in Tilton, N.H. and in 1952 was principal of Attleboro (Mass.) High School. In 1955, Mr. Gibbs became principal of South Plainfield (N.J.) High School and in 1956, he became vice-principal of North Plainfield (N.J.) High School and principal in 1958. He was active in the New Jersey Association of High School Principals, serving as president in 1969. He retired from education in 1974. Mr. Gibbs joined two of his brothers in the manufacture of endless belts at Arthur S. Brown Manufacturing Company in Tilton, N.H. and was Chairman of the Board there until retiring in 1983. Mr. Gibbs was president of the Saugus, Massachusetts Teachers Association in 1947, was president of the Saugus Community Y.M.C.A. in 1949, a member of the New Jersey Association of Secondary School Principals, serving as president in 1969 and the Plainfield (N.J.) Area Y.M.C.A. from 1969-1970. He was a former trustee of the , Belle Peabody Brown Foundation, Tilton, N.H., a former director of the Belknap Mill Society, Laconia, N.H. and a member of the Gilford Community Church, Gilford, N.H. Survivors include two sons, Edward “Ted” Gibbs IV and his wife, Ynette, of Pacific Beach, Washington and David Gibbs and his wife, Cheryl, of Algonquin, Illinois; daughter, Orry Gibbs of Laconia, N.H.; a step-daughter, Cyndy Weeks, her husband, Larry, and family of Pinehurst, North Carolina and family; two grandchildren, Edward “Ward” Gibbs V, and Geoffrey B. Gibbs; a brother, Charles Gibbs, of Franklin, N.H.; a sister, Alice Head, of Epsom, N.H. and many nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gibbs was predeceased by his second wife of twenty-five years, Beatrice M. (Gosselin) Gibbs, who died in 2002, by his first wife of thirty-four years and mother of his children, Violet O. (Arnold) Gibbs, who died in 2009, by three brothers, Berthier Gibbs, Walter Gibbs, and, Ralph Gibbs, and by a sister, Dorothy Nelson. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 from 3:00-5:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N.H. Laconia—–Anita O. Dunn, 83, of 136 Pine Street, died at Lakes Region General Hospital on Sunday, February 3, 2013 after a period failing health. Ms. Dunn was born March 26, 1929 in Laconia, N.H., the daughter of Arthur Joseph and Ida Marie (Clairmont) Lavoie. Ms. Dunn was a lifelong resident of 136 Pine Street, in Laconia, N.H. She attended Saint Joseph School (Sacred Heart Parish) in Laconia, after elementary school she attended Assumption Academy in Nicolet, Province of Quebec, Canada. She received her Associates Degree from Belknap College in Center Harbor, N.H. Ms. Dunn was a Cub Scout Den Mother for Troop 62 at Sacred Heart Church for six years. She was employed by Mr. Herbert Tuchman as Business Manager of Golden View Health Care Center, in Meredith, N.H. for a period of ten years. She then worked for Mr. Thomas Matzke as Business Administrator at Mountain Ridge Health Care Center in Franklin, N.H. until her retirement in 1991. She was an Ombudsman for the State of New Hampshire for over five years. She worked part-time for Attorney Scott D. McGuffin in an administrative position until she reached the age of 70. Survivors include her six sons and daughters-in-law, Calvin and Tammy Dunn of Laconia, N.H., Clayton and Rosemary Dunn of Belmont, N. H., Raymond and Darlene Dunn of Chesterfield, N.H., Richard Dunn of Laconia, N.H., David Dunn and Carol Dow of Meredith N.H., Daniel Dunn and Tonya Rapter of Gilford, N. H.; one daughter, Annette M. Dunn, of Laconia, N.H.; fourteen grandchildren, Calvin III, Amy, Laura and Brandon Dunn, Christy and Casey Dunn, Michael and Karah Dunn, Justin and Brianna Dunn, Cadie and Carrie Dunn, Travis and Kelsey Dunn, ten great-grandchildren, Steven Dunn, Calsey and Morgan Fontaine, Dominic, Alexander and Danika Ballou, Ashlynn Ida Marie and Connor Dunn, Aubree Dunn and Parker Ashton. She was predeceased by her sister, Annette M. Lavoie, in 1927, her father in 1968, her mother in 1990 and her brother, Arthur, in 2008. According to her wishes, there will be no calling hours. Gilford, N.H.—–Gloria D. Mull, 86, of 2761 Lakeshore Road died at home with family on Sunday, February 3, 2013. She was the widow of William R. Mull who died in 1991. Mrs. Mull was born July 12, 1926 in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Vincent and Mildred Grande. She resided in Westport, Conn. for thirty-eight years before moving to Gilford, N.H. twenty-one years ago. Mrs. Mull was a communicant of St. Andre Bessette Parish – St. Joseph Church and a former communicant of the Church of the Assumption in Westport, Conn. She was a member of the Opechee Garden Club in Laconia and was a charter member of Lake Shore Park, Gilford where she spent her summers. She played Mah Jong there every Wednesday with the “Girls”. The family extends their thanks Christopher of Christopher’s Salon. Survivors include three sons, James Mull, of Gilford, N.H., Robert Mull of Rodona Beach, Calif. and David Mull of St. Lucie, Florida; a sister, Rose Foti, of Staten Island, New York; three grandchildren, Kevin Mull of Belmont, Sara Mull of Gilford and Lindsay Mull of Rodona Beach, Florida; one great grandchild and several nephews and nieces. Gilford—–Elizabeth “Betty” A. Rodrigue, 83, of 23 Liscomb Circle, died at Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia on Monday, February 4, 2013. Betty was born January 22, 1930 in Norwich, Vermont, the daughter of Francis and Vera Frazier and was adopted at birth by Leon and Evelyn Hill-Gould. She resided in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont before moving to Laconia, N.H. in 1974 where she lived for fourteen years. In 1987, Betty moved to Gilford. Betty has spent the last fifty years raising her two boys and one husband. She liked everyone and was loved by all who knew her. Betty was always giving things to everyone and helping whenever possible. Survivors include her husband of fifty-one years, Thomas J. Rodrigue, of Gilford; two sons, Scott Rodrigue of Loudon, N.H. and Tim Rodrigue and his wife, Sharon, of Sanford, Maine; three grandchildren, Fiona, Cullen and Rowenna Rodrigue; a brother, Paul Frazier, of California and a sister Carlene King of Acton, Maine, and many nephews and nieces. (Cormier) Lafond, 82, of Laconia, died at the Mountain Ridge Nursing Home on Sunday, February 10, 2013 Mrs. Lafond was born February 4, 1931 in Laconia, the daughter of Alcide and Lena (Lebel) Cormier. Mrs. Lafond resided in Laconia for over forty years before moving to Sanbornton in 1978. She returned to Laconia in 2008. Mrs. Lafond was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. She enjoyed quilting, camping, genealogy and travelling. She was a quilting teacher for many years in Belmont, Tilton, Franklin, Sanbornton, and Laconia. Mrs. Lafond is survived by two sons, Donald T. Lafond of Laconia and Robert L. Lafond of Seattle, Washington; a daughter and son-in-law, Terese L. and Douglas R. Veysey, of Franklin; two grandchildren, Katherine Veysey of Derry, and Daniel Veysey of Franklin; four sisters; Lorette Piche, Doris Simoneau and Lucille’s twin sister, Cecile St. Gelais, all of Laconia and Stella Roux of Barefoot Bay, Florida; a brother, Odilon Cormier, of Sanbornton; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lafond was predeceased by her husband of fifty-six years, Thomas Lafond, who died October 23, 2008. MOULTONBOROUGH, N.H. —–Sandra L. Wyman, 64, of 43 Lacano Street Moultonborough, died at Genesis Health Care in Wolfeboro, N.H. on Tuesday, February 5, 2013. Mrs. Wyman was born on October 21, 1948 in Newburyport, Massachusetts, the daughter of Barbara (Sprague) and James Lowe. She lived in Merrimack, New Hampshire before moving to her home in Moultonborough twenty five years ago. Mrs. Wyman was the proud owner for ten years of “Angels in my kitchen” Restaurant located in Center Harbor prior to her retiring in 2004. She always very much enjoyed cooking and gardening. Survivors include her husband and best friend for many years, Allen Wyman, of Moultonborough; two daughters, Heidi LaRoche and Holly Sylvester; four grandchildren, Ashley LaRoche, Seth LaRoche, Scott Sylvester and Rachael Sylvester; two great grandchildren, Chase Emery and Olivia Adkins; her mother, Barbara Lowe; two sisters, Arlene White and Donna Perez and three nephews and eight nieces. She was predeceased by her father, James Lowe, and by her three brothers, Gary Lowe, Bobby Lowe and William Lowe. Gilford—-William K. Dietrich, Sr., 92, formerly of Ridgewood Avenue, Gilford, N.H., died on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Villa Crest Nursing Home in Manchester, N.H. where he had been a resident for the past four years. Mr. Dietrich was the widower of Sadie A. (DeBlayker) Dietrich who died in 1991. Mr. Dietrich was born February 16, 1920 in East Rutherford , New Jersey, the son of Maximilian William and Mildred (Bloom) Dietrich. Mr. Dietrich resided in South Burlington, Vermont for several years before moving to Gilford, N.H. in 1960. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and had been employed as District Manager for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Hampshire-Vermont for 31 years, retiring in 1985. Mr. Dietrich was a member of the Laconia Congregational Church. He was a Mason and a forty-three year member of the Mount Lebanon Lodge, No. 32 F. & A. M. and was a very active member of the Tardif Park Association. Survivors include two sons , William K. Dietrich, Jr. and his wife, Diane, of Manchester, N.H. and Bruce E. Dietrich and his wife, Donna, of Gilford, N.H.; a daughter, Joanne L. Powers, of Sterling, Virginia; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren and two nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dietrich was predeceased by a sister, Marge De Haven. Laconia—–Fern S. Green, 86, of 30 County Drive and formerly of Meredith Bridge Road, passed away at the Belknap County Nursing Home on Thursday, February 14, 2013. Fern was born December 25, 1926 in W. Thornton, N.H., the daughter of the late Elmer and Lillie (Fifield) Green. She was raised in W. Thornton, N.H. She also graduated from the Connecticut Institute of Hairdressing and was employed at G. Fox’s in Hartford Connecticut. Fern lived in Florida for several years before moving to Laconia, N.H. in 1974. She was associated with the First United Methodist Church of Gilford and was a member of the Esther Rebekah Lodge #9. Survivors include a niece, Fern Kleinhans of Australia, several cousins and three great nephews. In addition to her parents, Fern was predeceased by her sister, Joyce Martens, in 2000. In respect to her wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. A private burial will be in the family lot in Blair Cemetery, Campton, N.H. Gilmanton—–Harold “Steve” J. McClary, 87 Gilmanton, died at his home on Wednesday, February 13, 2013. Mr. McClary was born August 7, 1925 in Gilmanton, N.H., the son of the late Leona (Nutter) and Frank L. McClary, Sr. Mr. McClary had been a resident of Pittsfield, N.H. for sixteen years before moving to Gilmanton in 1970. He served in the U. S. Navy for two years and was a heavy equipment operator and owner of H. J. Steve McClary Construction for seventeen years before retiring in 1962. Mr. McClary was a member of the Gilmanton Congregational Church. He was a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Corinthian Lodge #82 in Pittsfield and a member of the Scottish Rite – Valley of Concord and Valley of Nashua and he was a 50 year member of the American Legion. Mr. McClary enjoyed camping in New England and winters in Florida. He was active with the snowmobile club for many years, building their first drag with his brothers. The drag is now on display at the Snowmobile Museum at Bear Brook. He was known to be one of the best fabricators/welders in New England. He enjoyed many family dinners and holidays at the home of his niece, Brenda Currier, and her husband, Brett, of Gilmanton. He will be greatly missed and was loved and respected by all of his family and friends. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Beatrice E. (Sibley) McClary, of Gilmanton; two brothers, Frank L. McClary, Jr. and George McClary, both of Gilmanton; a sister, Marion Keith, of Northfield and several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. A Graveside Service will be held at a later date in the family lot in Smith Meeting House Cemetery, Gilmanton, N.H. He was also a woodworking craftsman who enjoyed making fine furniture for family and friends. Many of his aquarium stands may be seen at local establishments throughout the Lakes Region. Walter had resided in Laconia most of his life and was a devoted father and grandfather. He shared his love of fishing, hunting and nature to all. He also enjoyed his gardens. He was a generous man who would not hesitate to help those in need. He is survived by four sons, Walter Poisson Jr. of Laconia, N.H., Augustus Poisson of Bristol, N.H., James Poisson of Laconia, N.H. and John Poisson of Nashua, N.H.; grandchildren, Renee, Jacob, Catherine and Zachary. He was predeceased by his daughter, Mary Louise Poisson, in 1993. There will be no calling hours. Private interment will be at the N.H. State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, N.H. Belmont—–Dorothy May (Waterman) Mudgett, 78, of Perkins Road, died in her home on Monday, February 18, 2013 with her dogs, Snookie and Buddy, by her side. Mrs. Mudgett was born March 29, 1934 in Sanbornton, N.H., the daughter of Harry and Bernice (Jones) Waterman. Mrs. Mudgett was a lifelong resident of the Sanbornton/Belmont area and had been employed as a seamstress for Annalee Dolls for many years. Survivors include her husband of 27 years, David Mudgett, of Belmont; a son, Douglas Braley, and his wife, Melody, of Franklin, two daughters, Barbara Huckins of Tilton, and Buster Huckins, of Florida and Gale Pucci and her husband, Anthony, of Northfield, six grandchildren, Todd Huckins and his wife, Nicole, Douglas Braley and his wife, Heather, Rosemary Wiedner and her husband, Adam, Michael Pucci and his wife, Melissa, Cami McGranaghan and her husband, Thomas, and Wayne Clark and his wife, Melanie; ten great grandchildren; three brothers, Kenneth Waterman and his wife, Jeanne, of Maine, Frank Dalton and his wife, Linda, of Sanbornton and Byron Dalton and his wife, Cynthia of Gilmanton, a sister, June Bolduc, and her husband, Francis, of Laconia and many nephews and nieces. Gilford—Steven Owen Sargent, 70, of Gilford, NH passed away on February 24, 2013 at Concord Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Salem, MA on July 27, 1942, the son of Russell and Charlotte Comins Sargent and lived the majority of his young life in nearby Lynn, MA. Steven was a graduate of Lynn English High School, North Adams State College (B.A.), and Wesleyan University (M.A.) and was married to Sharon Mitchell on June 11, 1966. He began his career as an English teacher in Middletown, CT and then spent over 25 years at Gilford Middle High School in Gilford, NH where he was known for both the high standards he set for his students and his dry sense of humor. In his free time, he enjoyed reading, playing both the trombone and baritone horn in jazz bands of various sizes, working in his garden and spending time at the family cabin on Moosehead Lake in Maine. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sharon, his son Scott Sargent of South Hadley, MA, his daughter Elizabeth Fenton and her husband, Peter, of Bradford, NH, his son Steven Sargent and his wife, Christine, of Weare, NH, their children Sadie and Sophie, and his sister-in-law Paula of Ballina, Australia. Laconia—–Madeline M. Lovely, 84, of 29 Pickerel Pond Road, died at her daughter’s home in Loudon on Saturday, February 23, 2013. Madeline was born in Laconia on July 20, 1928, the daughter of the late Leo P. and Leda (Payeur) Gaudet. Madeline was a lifelong resident of Laconia and was a 1946 graduate of Laconia High School. Madeline was a communicant of St. Andre Bessette Parish. She had been employed at Hopkins & Barlow Hardware Store, Superior Gas and the Laconia State School where she worked in the business office for over twenty years. Madeline enjoyed her family, traveling, playing cards, raising chickens and spending quality time at the Camp. She sent cards to all of her family and friends on special occasions. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, the Married Farmers, the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Sewing Club. She was also a 4-H Leader and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross where she was in charge of the kitchen during the Blood Drives. Survivors include her children, Linda Golden and her husband, Pat, of Loudon, Matthew Lovely of Laconia and Michael Lovely of Moon, PA; nine grandchildren. Nicholas, Jared and Ryan Champagne, Jason Boyle, Kevin and Keith Lovely and Jordan, Taylor and Madeline Lovely; ten great grandchildren; six brothers, Robert Gaudet from the state of Washington, Edward Gaudet of Gilford, Normand Gaudet of Belmont, Raymond Gaudet of Gilmanton and Andrew Gaudet and Paul Gaudet both of Belmont; three sisters, Gertrude DeBlois of Gilford, Jeannette Buckley of Meredith and Theresa Arndt from the state of Wisconsin and many nephews and nieces.
